This “Family Tree” showing the black belts of Allen R. Steen was originally done for a “Kick Illustrated Magazine” article in the early 1990s. It was updated by the AKBBA Board in 2001. Obviously, not all names have been included as the Board did not have access to everyone’s lineage. And there have been many additional men and women who have attained their black belts since then and can be considered part of the Texas tradition. Still, it is worth including this chart here because it gives an historical perspective to the vast number of martial artists who can trace their roots back to the “Father of Texas Karate,” Allen Steen.
